Obama’s priorities: population control and endangered species

Hot Air's Guy Benson draws attention to a section of Barack Obama's proposed budget (p. 930) that commits $575 million to population control (family planning and abortion) in "areas where population growth threatens biodiversity and endangered species." Benson notes that the Obama administration is very liberal on abortion and includes radical depopulation advocates, but wonders, "what’s the explanation for the environmentalist stipulations?" A postscript to the story notes similar Bush-era language on family planning in regards to combating AIDS, but ... (Continue reading)

Planned Parenthood invests $1 million to stop pro-life gubernatorial candidate

The Washington Post (via Hot Air) reports on the Virginia gubernatorial race attracting outside state help from pro-abortion extremists intent on preventing pro-life Republican Ken Cuccinelli from becoming the state's next governor: Planned Parenthood Votes has spent more than $1 million on television and radio ads that will soon air in the Norfolk and Richmond areas, telling women that they should not trust Ken Cuccinelli II, the Republican candidate for Virginia governor. Planned Parenthood’s various political advocacy groups ... (Continue reading)

Wisconsin abortion supporters try to thwart democracy & pro-life

The  Associated Press reports that the Wisconsin legislature passed Sonya's Law, a bill that requires women seeking abortions to have an ultrasound and requires doctors that do abortions at private facilities to have admitting privileges at nearby hospitals. Governor Scott Walker has signed the bill into law. Planned Parenthood and the American Civil Liberties Union filed suit immediately seeking a restraining order to prevent the new law from taking effect on Monday.  The legislators were democratically elected. Walker was ... (Continue reading)

#stand4life tweetfest in support of Texas pro-life bill

Dr. Susan Berry at Breitbart: Just as the pro-life movement used Twitter to force coverage of convicted murderer and abortionist Kermit Gosnell, supporters of the bill to increase abortion safety standards in Texas will conduct a  "tweetfest" on Tuesday.  The focus of the campaign will be to demonstrate that state Sen. Wendy Davis (D), who filibustered the bill last week, speaks neither for the majority of Texans nor the majority of American women. The tweetfest is in support of ... (Continue reading)

Cuomo’s abortion extremism

I've written here before about Governor Andrew Cuomo's aggressive attempt to make New York State the most pro-abortion state in America and S438-2013. National Review Online editorializes against Cuomo's abortion-expanding Reproductive Health Act: The anodyne-sounding “Reproductive Health Act” is a very bad proposal indeed. Where it regulates, it regulates the wrong parties in the wrong way. But it also deregulates with equal disregard: It would among other things allow persons other than physicians to perform abortions. That ... (Continue reading)

Obama inauguration: four more years of abortion radicalism

There is no reason to write an original post on the dangers of four more years of Barack  Hussein Obama when it has been well covered in this paper the last few months, most notably the October cover story "Abortion becomes major issues in 2012 election," that same month's editorial "The Party of Death," and the omnibus review of various books on the president, "Obama's Dangerous Radicalism." The National Right to Life Committee has Obama's pro-abortion record neatly ... Pro-life & the election

In October, we ran a feature story on the Democrats fully embracing its Party of Death status, running on an extreme pro-abortion position. As Rory Leishman noted in his column, for pro-life and pro-family voters in the United States, the choice between the candidates (Mitt Romney and Barack Obama) is clear. I also have a review of several books that show Obama is 1) not competent to be president and 2) a dangerous radical. I conclude:... (Continue reading)

10 questions pro-abortion candidates aren’t asked

It is pretty standard for pro-life candidates to be asked about the rape and incest exception and for pro-life candidates to be asked about how they would handle a child having an abortion. But candidates who support abortion are never asked difficult questions probing the limits of their position. Trevin Wax at the Gospel Coalition has a list of "10 questions a pro-choice candidate is never asked by the media." I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for any journalist to pose ... Democrats extreme on abortion: Newt Gingrich

Newt Gingrich on Meet the Press: The Democratic Party plank on abortion is the most extreme plank in the United States. The president of the United States voted three times to protect the right of doctors to kill babies who came out of an abortion still alive. That plank says tax-paid abortion at any moment, meaning partial-birth abortion. That's a 20 percent issue. The vast majority of women do not believe that taxpayers should pay to abort a ... Paul Ryan’s pro-life statement

Republican vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan delivered a sweet but strong pro-life statement in his speech last night: “We believe that in every life there is goodness; for every person, there is hope. Each one of us was made for a reason, bearing the image and likeness of the Lord of Life. We have responsibilities, one to another – we do not each face the world alone. And the greatest of all responsibilities, is that of the strong to ... (Continue reading)

Democrats sidestep ‘hot-button’ social issues

Politico reports on Democratic National Convention planning documents that they've seen and how Barack Obama's party is planning to highlight the so-called "hot-button" issues like gay rights, abortion, Planned Parenthood funding, and immigration. Politico reports: The most innovative — and harshest — element of the preliminary program is a nightly “social contrast” in which two people describe their personal experience with a hot-button issue — one person lauding the president’s actions, the other taking Romney to task. “Each paired-testimonial ... Planned Parenthood’s dishonest campaign for government funding

Actress Elizabeth Banks is plumping for Barack Obama and Planned Parenthood. The Hill reports on a pro-Obama ad featuring the actress, in which the star of Zack and Miri Make a Porno, Role Models and What to Expect When Expecting says: "So for that little 5 percent that Mitt Romney decides he doesn't agree with, he's going to take away cancer screenings? What is he doing? He's going to take away people's access to healthcare close by? We're talking ... (Continue reading)

Chick-fil-A #win

The Newseum's top ten newspaper covers today are on Chick-fil-A. (HT: Michelle Malkin) The Washington Post reported customer support for the restaurant made for brisk business and Rick Warren tweeted "#ChickfilA has already set a world record today." A quick perusal of the internet will find long lines of customers in stores and drive-throughs. It was pretty obviously a good day to be a Chick-fil-A franchise owner and it was also a strong statement that those who support traditional ... (Continue reading)

Choice when killing: good; choice when feeding: bad

The New York Sun editorializes on the decision by New York City under Mayor Michael Bloomberg's regime that hospital maternity wards must restrict choice -- not the choice of a mother to kill her baby, but how she feeds it: The latest from New York’s commissioner of mental hygiene is that maternity wards in New York are going to start locking up their baby formula so as to force new mothers to breast feed their children. This scheme, ... (Continue reading)
