Independent candidate runs against sex-ed in Scarborough-Rouge River

Queenie Yu says that "complaining is useless" so she's running as an independent candidate in an Ontario by-election in order to put her principles into action. The principle in question is Kathleen Wynne's radical sex-ed curriculum which Yu says "will do harm to children." Yu is running on one issue: to fully repeal the sex-ed curriculum that the Liberal government introduced in 2015. The independent candidate told The Interim she wants to inform voters in Scarborough-Rouge River through her website, lawn ... (Continue reading)

Socons treated worst than lepers

John Robson has a good piece in the National Post noting that after Patrick Brown won the Ontario Progressive Conservative leadership, the condemnation of his social conservative views was near-universal in the media as he was advised to dump his socon supporters and tack to the center on social issues. Robson says that socons are treated worst than lepers considering that nowadays lepers are treated with compassion while social conservatives are shunned as icky relics of a bigoted bygone ... The title says it all and one sentence in the introduction further explains his thesis: "While the average Ontario citizen benefitted under the Big Blue Conservative governments of the 20th century, the only people benefiting from the Ontario Liberals are the public sector unions and Liberal Party elites." ... Queen’s Park rally demands end to taxpayer funding of abortion Paul Tuns Despite wind, sleet, and temperatures of minus six, more than 350 people attended the Defund Abortion Rally organized by Campaign Life Coalition Youth at Queen’s Park on March 19. Defund abortion in Ontario

Here is what Interim editor Paul Tuns wrote at his blog Sobering Thoughts earlier today: Great point made by Campaign Life Coalition's Jack Fonseca: "Eliminating taxpayer funding for abortions that are not medically necessary is a political position that’s more popular amongst Ontarians than is the Liberal Party, the NDP or Tim Hudak’s PCs. So says a recent AngusReid opinion poll." Now that's because a majority of Ontario oppose taxpayer-funding of abortion. But typically, even the minority position on a ... (Continue reading)
