Pro-life officials will monitor the establishment of a new association dedicated to raising population, family planning and reproductive choice issues among Canadian MPs and Senators. The Canadian Association of Parliamentarians on Population and Development (CAPPD) met in late April to invite membership and to discuss objectives. A similar organization of Parliamentarians was in force until 1993, but was disbanded with the calling of that year’s election.

NEW YORK- A net TV documentary disputes the claims of population control advocates to argue that the number of people around the world is decreasing at an alarming rate.
“The Grandchild Gap with Ben Wattenberg” says that instead of facing overpopulation due to food shortages, a falling human birth rate may adversely affect all life on earth.
Wattenberg cites many causes for de-population including abortion, birth control, more working women and the anxiety of raising children in an increasingly stressful world.

The Chinese government is allowing young children to die in its state-run orphanages as a ruthless form of population control, says an authority on Asian demographics and family life.
Steven Mosher, Director of Asian Affairs for Human Life International (HLI), made the accusation in late September during a media conference in Toronto. Mosher has studied the effects of China’s population control practices since 1979.

Mike Mastromatteo A former official with the Philippine government’s population control organization has released an official medical report affirming that Filipina women were injected with sterilizing agents without their knowledge or consent.

The U.S. delegation to November’s United Nations world food summit is likely to promote “population stabilization” and “family planning” as a means of protecting world food security.
According to a July 29 report from the CWN new service, the Clinton administration has circulated a position paper expressing support for population control measures.
