Celebrating Christmas

Celebrating Christmas

Editor’s Note: Christmas is a joyous occasion for Christians as they celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ. And while not all Christians celebrate Christmas in the same way, the centrality of Jesus in the celebrations of those who take their faith seriously, is a shared feature of the holiday. We talked to four people in the shared offices of Campaign Life Coalition and The Interim to see how they mark Christ’s birth and celebrate the Christmas season. Jim Hughes: ... (Continue reading)

Consequences of same-sex marriage

National Affairs Rory Leishman The proponents of traditional marriage in the United States suffered a major setback as voters backed the legalization of same-sex “marriage” in all four states that held referenda on the subject in the November elections. This brings to 10 the total number of states that have legalized same-sex “marriage” either by referendum, legislation or judicial fiat. Meanwhile, since 1998, voters in 30 other states have entrenched the ... (Continue reading)

No, the first cohort in a long time to be raised in an era of relative peace and economic stability felt a necessity to buck the established ... (Continue reading)

Our duty to not be the Joneses

Our duty to not be the Joneses

Those Joneses always showing off their new toys. How can we live a life of humble virtue and quiet selflessness when they come into work after the holidays with the brand new iPhone? How can we feel good about our low-key Christmas when our neighbour was on a cruise in the Caribbean? How can we, who consider ourselves to be pro-family, believe that children are a gift when having more ... (Continue reading)

The world’s Good News

The world’s Good News

When Christ left this world, Tiberius sat on the throne of Rome, and Rome sat proud and potent over its many conquered lands. Israel was a far-flung province at the Empire’s ever expanding edge, and the Jews feared Rome, just as Christ’s followers feared the Jews. Nevertheless, with His last words, Christ exhorted His small and fearful handful of followers to “teach all the nations,” (Mt 28:19) and preach without ... (Continue reading)
