On Sept. 1, Texas began to legally define an "individual" to include an unborn child from the moment of fertilization. The change in definition offers legal protection for the unborn, but even though it could lead to murder charges for those who cause pregnant women to miscarry, it does not cover legal abortion. Nonetheless, it is a step in the right direction.

The Knight Ridder news service demonstrates a pro-abortion bias while reporting on women who use the ulcer medication Cytotech to induce chemical abortions. Reporter Kevin G. Hall said "But in Brazil, abortion remains a matter of moral debate, not a public health concern."

The Rapid City Journal runs a glowing eulogy in the form of a newspaper article for former abortionist H. Benjamin Munson. Munson committed illegal abortions in South Dakota and after flouting the law for several years, challenged the state's legal restrictions on abortion in 1969
