Teachers okay gay books I

The Elementary Teacher's Federation of Ontario at its annual meeting voted 96 per cent (of 500 delegates) to ask school boards (public presumably) to fund gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender material for students as young as four. From out of the closet right into the school rooms in a couple of decades. Incredible. Canada's professions - in teaching, law, medicine, clerical work, politics, social work, journalism -are all responsible. Our elite are effete. The National Post has reported the tremendous growth of home-schooling in North America over the past few years. Is there any wonder?

Teachers okay gay books II

Thank you, public elementary school teachers in Ontario, for your recent vote promoting homosexual and other perverse lifestyles to elementary school-aged children. A resounding 95 per cent mandate demanding the board take action in purchasing materials to that end is all the more gratifying.

Now, Mike Harris's common (political) sense revolution has more ammo to do at least one thing right; that being, revolutionizing the education system in Ontario and giving parents at least the option of control and the onus of responsibility for their children's education. The best way for this is privatization of education, including private schools, charter schools and homeschooling, through funding in the form of tax breaks and vouchers.

Of course, there are those apologists who will defend teachers till their dying breath, or as long as their spouse and friends are teachers or they fear for their children's treatment within the system. The same who are now saying, "Oh c'mon, the teachers were pressured into voting for this political correctness." However, the Toronto Star reported the 95 per cent who voted "yea" broke into spontaneous applause and embraces at the recording of the results. Even if there was truth to the "pressure" excuse, it would still translate that teachers are more concerned about their social status within the union and among colleagues than our children's physical, emotional and moral well-being.

Abortion and Judgement Day

Mary Wagner is a Vancouver girl who is again serving a prison term (sentenced July 19 to three months in jail) for defending our unborn brothers and sisters from murder most foul by abortionists. Mary is unable to speak for herself so I will speak for her. The first thing that reporters and others ask is, "Why are you here?" I think that Mary would say, "How can we live and live it up when so many of our people are dying." Our Canada has entered this century and the new millennium as the most pagan and morally depraved nation in history. Opposition to the culture of death is the pre-eminent issue in all of history. It is truly a crossroads moment, a turning point, a day of decision. Historians will some day look back on these days and ask the inevitable questions: Did you know? Did you speak up for life? Or did you turn your head, pretending to be an innocent bystander?

And those of us who believe in a day of Divine Judgement know that these questions will be asked also by the Lord of Life who takes as done to Himself whatever we do for the least of his children. Were you there? Did you see? Did you care? For myself, I have left all the timetables and final results in God's hands, but however and whenever we come to the moment of our enlightenment and to the end of the struggle, when human historians and the angel of

God record those who spoke up for the babies, the handicapped, the aged, and the forgotten, I hope that my name will be written on that scroll in bold letters. I want my life to be a voice for the voiceless, a defence for the defenceless, and a caring love for the unloved and unwanted.

I do believe that no matter how long it takes to see the truth as a human family, we will find our way into the light. We will someday see each life as a unique and unrepeatable image and likeness of God, a fragile miracle of his love, bringing us a special message from God Himself. We will realize that our lives are shaped by those who love us - and by those who refuse to love us. I think that this is what the poet John Donne meant when he wrote, "No man is an island," and what Jesus meant when He said, "All I ask of you is that you love one another." If we are faithful, someday the rose of life will bloom in all of its magnificent beauty, for all of us to behold and to love.

Correction:

In the June 2001 issue, a story on the use of graphic images erroneously reported that Show the Truth uses images exclusively of late-term abortions, when in fact the majority of pictures they use are of aborted babies in the first half of pregnancy.
