August 2001
Campaign Life Coalition National President Jim Hughes was one of the more than 40 speakers. He told the Interim that the throng of (mostly Polish) participants exuded as "incredible pro-life spirit" and noted that there were an "extraordinary number of high-ranking politicians" present at the conference, including Polish Prime Minister Jerzy Buzek who addressed the council. Hughes was part of the IRLF board contingent, of which he is a member. The IRLF board members stayed at the Redemptorist monastery in Warsaw, where 30 Redemptorist priests were murdered in 1939. After the conference, board members went on a sightseeing excursion to Birkeneau and Aushwitz.
