Election 2000 saw new signs of hope among Protestant and Catholic leaders
The election saw rather late but nevertheless welcome statements by some Canadian religious leaders on abortion as a major election issue. Jim Hughes states that had these statements been clearer about abortion being a disqualifying issue, more pro-life candidates might have won on November 27.
