It’s one of the certainties of this age. School children learn it the way they learn their multiplication tables. The world is bursting with human beings and unless severe measures are taken we will all gradually be squeezed out of existence. The environment, our resources and food supplies are stretched to the breaking point. The population is spinning wildly out of control. But a growing number of economists and population experts are saying don’t believe it. Don’t believe the doomsayers, they say. They ... (Continue reading)
Mary Jo’s friends now ask why the hospital staff made no effort to revive her and, even after discovering their error, still left her to die such an agonizingly slow death. The tragic but avoidable death of a Yakima, Washington, woman has raised a number of serious questions on the advisability of signing a living will. In late December 1992, the staff at a Washington nursing home mistakenly gave 92-year-old Mary Jo Estep three doses of another patient’s medication. ... (Continue reading)

But in the end she came up 40 votes short. “Every single person counted,” Connell said as she summed up the loss. “It was a hard lesson to learn.” Connell, an active pro-lifer in her community, was ... This column is for Annette’s mother, and the few others who asked me to tell the story about Izzy the dog and my heroic rescue. After she was found wandering around a busy street a few times by my daughter and her friend, they asked me to take her in. “Not before you ... (Continue reading)

To put one’s trust in anything less than God leads to disaster. Such is my experience.
